Reviews
I hesitated on writing this review but I urge against bringing your reptile here. I am a medical student. Here are the reasons:
1) Vet tech miscalculated my chameleon's weight to be 10 times heavier than he is, and thus gave ceftazidime in 10 times higher dose than indicated for him, which I gave for a month. I found this out the next time he needed this med and the dosage was different. This antibiotic is nephrotoxic. No one brought this up until I asked and no one apologized.
2) 2 months later, his renal insufficiency became evident as he developed various symptoms. They recommended culturing the abscess which I did. When I called for the result a week later, the tech said it's negative, and she said it means either it was aseptic or the truck was too hot and killed all organisms... I believe the vet facility holds the responsibility to ensure an adequate transportation system.
3) Recently, I dropped off Millie just to get stitches out that was done in ER and later received a voicemail (without a call) recommending euthanasia because it would be "unfair of us to keep pushing him". I did not expect this let alone hear it over voicemail and walked out of my lectures in tears. Both when I called back and when I went to pick him up, they repeatedly asked if I was sure of not euthanizing. The night before, Millie ate a handful of crickets and walked around outside which he loves to do. Did not appear to be in pain or distress.
-I've spent over $1000 here for many of the tests they recommended, but received no diagnosis.
-The picture attached is Millie today. He has been recovering well and has been enjoying the outdoors and hanging with my bearded dragon. Enjoying his life.
-I've had Millie for 4 years and he traveled across the country with me. He is my first pet. He may be small but is a part of my family, and I am upset and disappointed by the way he was treated.
The staff here are very sweet and knowledgeable. They walked through everything that they could do for my snake and I was given prices up front so I could choose what I wanted performed within my budget. The tech was super helpful and kind and showed me how to give him an injection and was very thorough. You can tell they truly love all the creatures who come through their doors.
if i could give them zero stars i would. They lied to me about my chinchillas teeth in order for me to schedule a tooth trim (almost a thousand dollar procedure) and it wasn't until after the procedure they told me his teeth were not bad but that they still went ahead and proceeded with it. (keeping my chin under anesthesia which is already high risk for small animals). They disregarded a heart murmur while he was under because of the chance it could be from stress and when he woke up he was fine but ended up dying in their care due to fluid buildup around his lungs from the fluids they were giving him while he was under. I asked for a partial refund since the tooth trim was not necessary because i would have never signed off on it had i been properly informed about the severity of his teeth, Dr. Dixon was no help and continued to talk circles with me on the phone & took no responsibility. Save your babies and take them elsewhere, where they will be honest. Very unfortunate as my family and i were customers with them for a while and my chinchillas death had to be the outcome after having him for 9 years. never again.
The building is nice and clean. The staff is friendly and courteous. I brought in a 15 year old bearded dragon who has been declining for euthanasia. I had to find a vet who takes reptiles, which are few. The total cost for euthanasia was $300, which I felt was excessive, but I didn't have much choice, as I didn't want the beardie to suffer. The quality of life exam was $80, and took maybe 10 minutes. It seemed very expensive.
Exceptional care was given to both of my African Greys. Staff were beyond amazing & informative. We recommend 💯. Thank you Ark staff for amazing treatment …
The Staff here was great! They kept me in the loop the whole time they had my dog in their care. The prices were predictably high (a few X-rays a blood panel and a prescription for an anti inflammatory ran me close to $900) but they provided excellent care, a detailed diagnosis and took me on short notice with a level of compassion and professionalism that's hard to come by these days.
I strongly DO NOT recommend taking your pet here. All they care about is getting your money. Spent over $900.00 for them to treat my dogs upper respiratory infection and got absolutely no where.. My dog has been sick for a month now and the antibiotic she was on started to finally take effect right as her prescription was running out.. I called for a refill.. After spending all that money, I was told the doctor says to get a different antibiotic that is a 10 day $130.00 medication but if that doesn't help then they will refer me over to internal medicine. I explained I can't afford to be spending that kind of money when they're not 100% sure it will even help and that I would like to just refill the antibiotic she is currently on. They refused and told me I either buy that antibiotic or they can't help me anymore. I told them I'm going to go somewhere else since they're not helping and the receptionist responded with "perfect!" How unprofessional and rude. I will never recommend this vet to anyone.
First time here and so far, I really like it the veterinarians, or if I need a technician was great, very clean and nice and answered all the questions for my pets
I brought my 2.5 year old hamster here recently and though the outcome wasn’t what I had hoped for, the staff and care was amazing. They truly care for you and your pets here and they provide ease and comfort during a hard time. Thank you to the staff at Ark Veterinary Hospital for everything!
My hairless Guinea pigs got into a fight the other night and I could not get ahold of any emergency vets for a possible emergency, and the other exotic/small animal clinic that I’ve been to in the past couldn’t see me for almost another …
